Looking for a way to fund your Ecuadorian adventure?
For Summer 2012 we are offering three scholarship categories (language and culture, internship, and media correspondent); two scholarships will be awarded in each.




El Nomad Immersion Programs, Cuenca, Ecuador - Internships, Volunteer Positions, and Spanish Language and Culture Programs in Cuenca, Ecuador

Learn to Cook Ecuadorian Dishes with El Nomad Immersion Programs, Ecuador

Every Tuesday learn to cook traditional Ecuadorian dishes in the El Nomad Immersion Programs center in Cuenca, Ecuador!

Classes are instructed in Spanish by Maestra Chelita, but a translator will be on hand to help those who need English instruction. Each class will end with enjoying the food you have learned to cook and a cup of Ecuadorian grown coffee (or tea if you perfer), and great conversation (an excellent opportunity for you to practice your Spanish!).

A pdf with instructions in both English and Spanish will be emailed to you after each class so you have the recipes to work from.


Class Schedule
Masa de Hojaldre

Tuesday, January 4 - Working with Masa de Hojaldre
We will be making both sweet and savory appetizers/finger foods with thin filo pastry dough. Quick, easy, fun, and perfect for entertaining! Come get your hands dirty and try an array of delectable entradas.



Locro de Papas
Tuesday, January 11 - Locro de Papas (Potato Soup)
and a Sweet Babaco Dessert
This soup is a typical Ecuadorian dish that is most well known in la cierra, including Cuenca. This soup is made cheese, potatos, and milk and is served with avocado and hardboiled egg. We will also be making a sweet babaco dessert.


Ponche
Tuesday, January 18 - Warm Drinks
Today's class will explore the world of warm drinks that can be served with or without alcohol (we will have them availble both ways).We will make Champus de Arroz (a thick rice drink that has milk, raisins, and spices), Ponche (a drink similar to eggnog), and the famous Canelazo (naranjillas, sugar, and spices).




Yuca
Tuesday, January 25 -
Yuca
Learn to work with yuca, the well known root here in Ecuador. We will make a torta de yuca and friend yuca, teaching you how to cook it so you can work with it, and make delicious yuca dishes!

Cost
Classes cost $10 per class for individual classes or $36 per month (4 classes).
Classes start at 3:00 pm, run for approximately 2 hours, and take place in the El Nomad Center in Cuenca (see address below).

Registering for Classes
Please register by the Saturday before each class via email (askme@elnomad.com). Classes can be paid for in cash only (or by bank transfer) and should be paid for upon arrival at the El Nomad center the day of the class.
