El Nomad's Green Promise
El Nomad promises to plant a tree that is native to the Andes region of Ecuador for each student who participates in our program. If you would like, you will have the opportunity to take care of and watch the tree grow during your stay in Ecuador. This tree will represent a small piece of you that will stay in Ecuador forever.
A Few Things You Can do to Go Green!
At home:
- Check that the products you buy are the best choice for the environment (for example, does it save energy, conserve water, have recyclable content?);
- Reject unnecessary packaging;
- Re-use packaging;
- Sort your rubbish;
- Use your local recycling depot or curbside service;
- Compost kitchen and garden waste;
- and Choose recycled goods whenever possible.
At school:
- Educate children to be responsible consumers and recyclers;
- Promote litter control.
- Educate parents and teachers, and
- Support or initiate school recycling schemes.
At work:
- Press for more efficient use of resources such as energy and office paper;
- Become informed about the potential for waste minimization and recycling in your workplace;
- Publicize issues through your staff newsletter; and
- Initiate a recycling scheme.
