Spanish Classes

ABOUT THE CLASSES
Spanish classes take place at the University of Cuenca and are taught by experienced professors who go above and beyond to ensure lessons are fun and applicable. You will take a placement exam upon arrival to determine appropriate ability.
The following course options are offered:
- Spanish Grammar, Composition, and Conversation (all levels)
- Medical Spanish for Professionals (all levels)
- Spanish for Professional Educators (all levels)
- Culture and Literature
- Latin-American Literature
- Hispanic-American Literature
- Indigenous Culture and Literature
- Other special topics vary by term
Most courses are instructed in Spanish, however some may be available in English.
STUDENT LIFE
You will live with an upper-middle class Ecuadorian family in a homestay and may choose to enhance your experience with a professional internship or volunteer placement. With access to the El Nomad Student Center, you can rent sports equipment, use Wi-Fi, drink coffee, and watch movies. El Nomad also hosts weekly charlas, social activities ranging from traditional cooking classes to hiking in the Andes. Charlas are open to the whole El Nomad community, including students from a partner program for Spanish-speaking students learning English.
